# Diameter of a Sphere

## Method #1 – Diameter from the volume

### Formula – How to calculate the diameter of a sphere from the volume

Radius = 3√((3 x Volume) ÷ (4 x π))

Step 2: Calculate the diameter

##### Example

A sphere has a volume of 10

Radius = 3√((3 x 10) ÷ (4 x π))

Radius = 3√((3 x 10) ÷ (4 x 3.14159))

Diameter = 1.33651 x 2

Diameter = 2.67302

## Method #2 – Diameter from the surface area

### Formula – How to calculate the diameter of a sphere from the surface area

Step 2: Calculate the diameter

##### Example

A sphere has a surface area of 10

Radius = √(10 ÷ (4 x 3.14159))

Diameter = 0.89206 x 2

Diameter = 1.78412

## Method #3 – Diameter from the radius

### Formula – How to calculate the diameter of a sphere from the radius

##### Example

A sphere has a radius of 10

Diameter = 10 x 2 = 20

## Method #4 – Diameter from the circumference

### Formula – How to calculate the diameter of a sphere from the circumference

Diameter = Circumference ÷ π

##### Example

A sphere has a circumference of 10

Diameter = 10 ÷ π

Diameter = 10 ÷ 3.14159

Diameter = 3.1831
